Every year, Kaiser High School provides its students with the opportunity to participate in the PTA (Parent Teacher Association) Reflections Contest, which allows students to express their artistic ability in various categories. The theme for this year’s Reflections c Contest is “Heroes Around Me.”
Entries can be submitted through a number of mediums, from dance to digital art. Students may choreograph a dance, produce a film, write a piece of literature, compose a musical piece, take a photo or use any number of other art mediums in the visual arts category. Students can submit to the high school (9th-12th grade) division. Those with special needs may submit to the special artist division, which provides artistic accommodation as well as designates entries as belonging to grade levels that best suit the submitters’ abilities. All work must be original, non-collaborative work and cannot feature copyrighted material (with the exception of background music).
All entries must include a title and an artist statement. The artist statement discusses what inspired the work, how it relates to the theme and the content of the work within 10-100 words. Entries are reviewed at local, regional, state, and national levels, providing students plenty of opportunities to win awards and prizes. Entries must be submitted to either Amy Conners in room E202 or PCNC (Parent Community Network Coordinator) Ann Olson in the office by October 31. For more information and to print the entry form, visit PTA.org/Reflections or talk to Mrs. Conners or Mrs. Olson.
